Iggi Heals from his Foxtail Encounter
|

Well we've had a little kitty drama here... Iggi managed to do what cats usually do not do- at least according to our esteemed vet, Dr. Bill. He managed to get two foxtails embedded deep in his left front leg muscle, where they infected, and surgery was required to remove them. This is a dog sort of thing, not a cat thing. Iggi came as close to losing his leg as he possibly could and not lose it! Monday night when he was to be "preparing" for the procedure, he bashed the boundary and bolted out the cat door at 4 am, and I had to lure him back inside so we would be on time to the vet later that morning. With all the howling and the escape attempt, Bob and I did not get much restful sleep, to say the least! Tuesday the foxtails were removed. Wednesday, barely 24 hours post procedure, Iggi removed the bright yellow shoulder to paw bandage himself, he just pulled it off like a knee sock! Thursday at his follow up appointment, Dr. Bill was thrilled with the progress- he expected this much healing in a week, not 2 days. Way to go, IGGI! But Oh! the wailing and moaning... Iggi is not happy hanging around the boring house with the other pets 24/7, and longs for the hills and trees, rodent catching and consuming, and other various pursuits of the outdoor feline lifestyle. I was sure to leave the vet's with a couple days worth of kitty tranquilizers for the worst of his frustrated kitty moments. When it all closes up he may resume his position in the hierarchy of things outdoors- Hopefully a little wiser. Until that day, an indoor domestic house cat, albeit MANX, he remains. What a rascal! |
